Roy Seals was helping pass out gospel literature in Merida on an extremely hot Saturday in 1980. After sweating profusely and literally beating dogs off with a stick, he was ready to stop. But he didn't. He knew the deal was you don't stop until you pass out everything you brought. So he kept going. The next house he stopped at called on Roy to come by a few weeks later. The couple had questions and wanted to learn more. He ended up spending 5 hours in their home. Roy came back the next week and stayed for 4 hours.
Roy would come to know the Verdes very well. They both were converted and baptized that year, and Manuel told Roy he was called to preach. Manuel ended up pastoring Roy's church in Merida when Roy and Edi needed to return from the field. In 2006 the Verdes joined Global Faith as missionaries. Roy was so thankful he didn't stop handing out gospel literature that day. It's one of his favorite stories because they are still friends today and thank God for the fruit of Roy's labors 42 years later.
