Jim and Michelle Telman moved to Uganda in 2012 and started serving in Mbira Baptist Church. Jim was ordained in 2016 and became the pastor about a year later when the previous pastor was killed in a car accident. The Telmans have also been able to open the Mbira Bible College with 40 adult church members, as well as a Leadership Division with 14 young people training for future ministry roles. The Telmans are also working with a group of men to plant 3 new churches nearby. The Telmans also run Grace Christian School which will potentially have 400 students enrolled, of which 80 are orphans who are boarding students. There is also a home for elderly widows and a baby home, which fosters abandoned and orphaned babies. Recently, the church has opened a transition home for street kids.
